This print was painted in 2021, just as we were coming out of the lock-down. It reads, ‘Peace in You. Peace in Me. Peace in our world.’ If there is a particular piece from my collection, that I would recommend to everyone, this is it.
Even if we are not aware of it, we all need peace. It is one of the reasons we lay down our heads to sleep at night. The body and mind need to take a break , i.e. to switch off, even if it is for a while. it is during these times – these rest times that the important work of repairing, rebalancing and harmonising the mind, body and spirit take place. It is impossible to imagine a life without rest (peace), as it is fundamental to who we are and how we function as humans.
Yet, there is another form of peace that we need and it belies everything. It is the peace that forms the pulse of creation. In its nature, it is vast. This peace is essential for experiencing our oneness with all of life and is often referred to as the peace that ‘passeth all understanding’. This form of peace gives us the feeling of contentment – the feeling that we are already enough.
But many seek this peace in our world today. However, it s often said, that it is only through the attainment of this peace in ourselves that there can be peace in our world. This is because, peaceful people seek peace and also peaceful people and surroundings. In so doing they create peaceful environments and communities too.
Nevertheless, if you seek peace and feel that our world could do with more peace, you may want to join a community which I set up for this purpose. If you are interested, please visit www.beingpeaceful.org
However, this painting can help in eliciting a sense of peace within, even if it is just for a moment. By affirming the peace mantra, ‘Peace in me. Peace in you. Peace in our world’, each time to look at it, you will be opening yourself up to the experience of peace. Moreover, just looking at the image could also help in bringing a sense of peace to you, even if it is for a while.
So, if you find that you are drawn to this piece, practice mindfulness or any other form of meditation, then this is the perfect one for you. I love this artwork. I hope you do too.
